If you care when I schedule my Equinox one card draw this week, please fill out my poll.

Oh--and a warning--I seem to have been hit by the rotating e-mail blackouts LJ has been experiencing. They may be affecting you too--if you ask for a reading, and don't get an e-mail, you might need to check back the hard way to see your reading.  But I will be checking back myself, so even if I don't get the notifications, I will find your requests!

So, we have a beautiful full moon overhead, and the Torn World Muse Fusion is ongoing. I really was too tired for it last night, though I started a story which I'm continuing today.

The computer is still being slow and cranky; it shut down from overheating again last night; luckily none of the writing was lost, though a lot of time was lost fiddling with the external fans to get cat hair out of them and then getting the computer started up again. I'm dreading hitting the summer heat if I can't get a new computer by then, and the desktop computer is still out with a persistent virus.

In work news, I've hit the end of my full-time temp work, and have only one week of half-time work left. Unless something happens very suddenly on that front, I'll be unemployed again by next weekend.

In the meantime, it's Equinox, which means it's time for me to do readings, but there's no way I can do them and the Muse Fusion at the same time. So, I offer a poll:

[Poll #1719861]In the meantime, the story I'm working on for the Muse Fusion is Dragon Oak, and is about Rai-Kunabei, who some of you have met during my readings.  I think it will be around 3,000 words when I'm done, and can be sponsored for a total of $30 (from one or a group of sponsors).  After that, I'm going to tackle the question of what it's like to be near a border when two time-shads fuse back together.

And if you stop by the Muse Fusion and leave a question or prompt, I'll have some more writing to do tonight or tomorrow!  If I use your propt or answer your question, you get a private peek at what I create even it's not sponsored.

Happy Spring, everyone!

EDIT: This draw has been unofficially closed since lunchtime; I suppose I should make it official. Since this is still (barely) the first day of the lunar new year, I'll honor all requests to date, over the next day or two. Unfortunately, though my throat is better, my sinuses are now trying to imitate fountains, and I'm out of energy for this evening. Thanks again for your patience and for your tips!
_____________________________________

I've been trying to hold off a sore throat all week, with limited success, but it is Imbolc, and there's so much snow the City is basically shut down, so I'm going to do a Card Draw. Since I've got lots to do, even if we could ignore the snow, which we can't--I should have to go in to work tomorrow--I'm limiting this to one card.

Rai Kunabei thinks this is a very strange, outlandish way to do things.  However, since she was a child, she has always wanted to travel and try new things, so she's willing to give it a try.  She does ask, however, that if you want a Torn World disk reading, you should please either ask a question or indicate which of the three aspects your question or concern is rooted in--natural, artificial, or abstract.

I also offer readings from the Faeries' Oracle.  I always find them inspiring, and I get the feeling that they'd be happy to be out playing on such a wild, snowy day.

For a third deck...hmm...I really don't feel a particular draw to any of my other decks today. If you want something else, give me an idea what you are seeking and I'll compare it to what I have, and try to pick something appropriate.

As always, these readings are for entertainment and inspiration only, and you are welcome to ask about your creative endeavors as well as more traditional questions.  See my new "Dandelyon's Readings" page if you  have questions.

And please consider dropping something in the case!  Readings take time and energy, and temporary workers don't get paid just because the office is closed due to a blizzard.  If you can't tip, signal boosts are appreciated both for these readings and for Torn World.  However, I understand all too well that sometimes people don't have the spoons to reciprocate, and it is generally during those times when people most need inspiration!

I hope you will consider voting for  Torn World in the top web fiction poll (you can vote for all of your favorites, and your vote will affect what shows up on their landing page for a week).  Finally, the Rose and Bay Award nominations are now all up over in  [livejournal.com profile] crowdfunding , and assuming that the organizers' internet connections are working despite ice storms and blizzards, there should be voting polls up in all categories. I hope you'll check out the nominees and consider voting for one of my projects.

But whether those things interest you or not, if you'd like a reading, please ask!

My Card Draw is still open!  If you want a reading for the new year, for a project, for one of your characters, or for whatever reason, please drop by!  I'm still working to accumulate enough money to replace this laptop.  The new exterior fan has reduced the number of times it is crashing while I'm writing, but not eliminated them, and the computer is being slow and balky besides, probably due to all the unscheduled shut-downs.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ideealisme , [livejournal.com profile] ellenmillion , and [livejournal.com profile] xjenavivex for recommending me to their friends.

The New Year's Eve  party at Lytheria was fun; I got to sing a bit and also talk to people I haven't talked to a lot over the year.  Thursday night, despite the holiday my singing partner came by and we practiced a bit.   And then last night after the party my gut got mad at me, probably explaining why I slept through until after 4 today; wonder what I ate that I shouldn't have?  I was being VERY careful!

I've been thinking about goals for the new year and accomplishments in the old, but I want to get caught up on readings first!

Will I see you there?

I've decided to throw this open a little early. I plan to leave it open until sometime on January 1; if it's not the 2nd and I don't have a "closed" sign at the top of this post, you're welcome to request a card (or three, in the case of Torn World readings).

Of course, the usual disclaimers apply -- a card reading can't substitute for professional advice. If you need a doctor or lawyer or financial planner, etc., that's not me. If I can provide some entertainment, or help you get in touch with your own higher power(s) or inner muse(s), on the other hand, I'm glad to be of service.

Decks:

I'm going to offer three-card Torn World readings again.  You can have a reading from the Kuleilyi Divination Disks, much as Bai-Kunabei might give if you were to get a reading from her.

If you would like a Guide, I have the combined combined deck I made out of Susan Seddon Boulet's Goddesses and Animal Spirits.

To bring meaning out of chaos, the Fantasy Showcase Tarot featuring art collected by Bruce Pelz, where each card is by a different artist (or, in one case, two artists).

For inspiration, guides, whimsy, and sheer beauty, Brian Froud's Fairies' Oracle.  (Though some of the advice provided by this deck last time was quite practical.)

And finally, because five is a magical number, the Shapeshifter Tarot.

Rules:  Do I need rules?  Ask what you want to ask, the way you want to ask (within the limits of polite behavior, anyway).  Let me know which deck you'd like me to  use.  My cards have always been respectful of the creative life; feel free to ask about creative projects if you wish.

Payment:  No payment is necessary, but this does take time and energy.  Any tips will be gratefully appreciated and applied to the "Get a Laptop that doesn't crash when it overheats" fund, which still has a long way to go.  And if things get busy, I'll do readings for people who tip first.

I hope you all have a wonderful new year!

I've got this nice, open window here to type into, and all that's happening is I'm thinking how nice it is to be at home in a warm house, relaxing.

I've decided to open the Card Draw on New Year's Eve and keep it open into New Year's Day, though I won't be doing any readings while I'm at the NYE party we always go to.

I plan to do Torn World readings again, but am contemplating which other decks to use. Does anyone have any preferences? I'd love to hear your thoughts both about the decks I've used so far, and about your favorite decks in general.

We have heat! In celebration, I thought I'd offer a one card draw. I'll accept questions and requests until at least midnight, and may leave this open until morning.

Since the three-card readings take more time, I thought I'd offer a different assortment of cards to choose from.

First is my all-time favorite deck, the Fantasy Showcase Tarot featuring art collected by Bruce Pelz, where each card is by a different artist (or, in one case, two artists). Sadly, this deck is not still available, since Mr. Pelz did not predict that he would sell out the first printing, and did not negotiate rights for subsequent print runs.

Second, Brian Froud's Fairies' Oracle, which is as visually stunning as you'd expect.

Third, Kris Waldherr's Goddess Tarot, which I've had for a while, but not used yet.

Let me know which deck you'd prefer.  If you're looking for a guide, I'll draw from the major arcana of the Goddess deck or the Fairie's Oracle, whichever you prefer.   I'm always open to questions about creative endeavors as well as real-world concerns.

As before, this does take energy, and tips are welcome, but not required.  Tips will be put toward helping to pay for our replacement boiler.

And the small print--you're welcome to use this for inspiration, entertainment, or a basis for meditation, but it does not and cannot substitute for consulting a real-world professional.

Edit: It's midnight. I have to head off to bed shortly; I have work tomorrow. But I will finish all currently-outstanding requests after work tomorrow.

I'll leave this open until morning. If it gets overwhelming, I'll do as many as I can tomorrow. I do promise to read for everyone who tips, however, even if that takes me into Friday.

Edit--I have work tomorrow, and NaNoWriMo starts tomorrow (technically, started at midnight) so I'd better close this to new requests. I'll do this again, though, so if you missed it this time, look for it to happen again in December.

Anyone who already left a request, I'll respond soon, most likely tomorrow night. Thanks for stopping by!

I haven't done one of these before, here in LJ-land. But I really enjoy them when other people do them.

One of the things I've thought was great about many of these readings is that I get to glimpse different ways of doing readings, people's individual decks, or stone readings, and so on. So I'm bringing a unique "deck" to this reading--one I created for Torn World, as well as some more conventional cards.

One interesting feature of Torn World that isn't really visible in the stories is that there are three classes of noun--natural, technological, and abstract. Language shapes how people think; I suspect that having three classes of things will have significant effects on their culture; one of the things I wanted to do with this divination "deck" (the Kuleilyi actually place the images on metal disks, because metal and sounds are important to their religion/magic system); only children and apprentices work with paper or wooden copies). The specifics of the divination disks are still being reviewed by the canon board, so this is a sneak-peek for my friends, old and new.

So, anyway, THE RULES: You can leave a question or not, as you choose. The question can be for you, personally, for a creative endeavor, for a fictional character in a work in progress, or a request for inspiration. The default, if you don't specify, will be a three-card Torn World reading, much as Bai-Kunabei might give if you were to get a reading from her. Alternatively, you can ask for a one card reading from the Daughters of the Moon Tarot, or the Shapeshifter's Tarot.  A final option is to ask for a Guide from the combined deck I made out of  Susan Seddon Boulet's Goddesses and Animal Spirits.

Payment:  No payment is necessary, but this does take time and energy.  Any tips will be gratefully appreciated and applied to the "Get a Laptop that doesn't crash when it overheats" fund, since even with the little fan-table underneath, this laptop has crashed in the middle of me trying to write twice this week.

Time period:  this being the first time I've done this here, I don't know what to expect.  My current plan is to leave the post open for requests until at least midnight, but if the response gets overwhelming, I may close it sooner.  I will edit the post (in nice bold letters at the top) when I close to new requests.  If you get your request in by closing, I'll do a reading, either today or soon.
