Readings for New Moon and Solstice
Dec. 18th, 2017 09:13 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
The interwebs tell me that this is the "Micro Moon." I'm not quite sure what to make of that, except of course that it's time to read cards for people. The Winter Solstice is coming up too. Given how busy things are for everyone (including me), I'm leaving this open until December 23.
Feel free to ask about the new year if you want, since magically the new moon and new year are the same kind of energy, but I do plan to do a Full Moon reading on January 1, so you can, instead, ask for advice on handling the holidays or on new projects or, really, anything you want.
If you want to give me a present this Yule, please go look at my Patreon, I'd love to hear what you think. I'll be posting a 1st draft chapter of my Quirky Writer's Guide to Foiling Writer's Block in the next day or two, and then will start work on a post for my very first (and treasured) patron.
Would people be interested in a more expensive reading for the new year? If so, a month-by month reading or something else? If there's interest, I can arrange to do that on the Solstice or as part of the January 1 readings.
As always, New friends and old are very welcome.
About the readings,
You can simply ask for a single card (with the usual clarifying card for people who tip). The guitar case below is my personal PayPal link, featuring my own artwork, which still inspires me even though it isn't Tarot-related.
I am also offering a five-card reading for $25, or if you want a larger reading we can discuss costs. A signal boost for readings or for the Patereon will allow you to ask for a clarification card on some part of this reading, if you wish.
Regardless of the length of the reading, you may ask about real life or a creative project, even for a character you play in a game. I can draw a card for you to meditate on, to represent the Guide you need right now, or to get you unstuck. I can draw a card for your protagonist or villain, or can draw a card or cards for you to use as writing or art prompts, and I can modify a more-traditional five-card spread into a prompt for a story focusing on plot or characters or a little of both. Let me know if you have any particular request.
For free one card readings, you can pick from my decks, including the Brian Froud's Faeries Oracle, the Daughters of the Moon Tarot (one of the round decks), or the Shapeshifter Tarot. If you want a Guide to companion you in the new year or the holidays, the Susan Seddon Boulet or Fairies Oracle both work well. If you don't pick a deck, I might pick from any of the decks available to me.
The first card is free (though tips are always appreciated). I understand all too well that when people don't have cash or spoons that is generally when they most need inspiration. Don't be afraid to ask for a card if you can't tip.
When you tip, it's helpful to me for you to mention it here so I can connect your Paypal information with your request. Tips should be at least $2 (Paypal charges fees). If Paypal doesn't work for you, drop me a message and we'll work something out.
I will reply to all requests, though with the holidays, there may be a delay in getting to you.
Thank you, Blessed Be, and may whatever holidays you celebrate be low-stress and joyful!
Status: Open!
As always, while I work hard to offer insight and inspiration, all I can legally promise is entertainment. See my "Dandelyon's Readings" page if you have questions.

Date: 2017-12-19 01:21 pm (UTC)Also, avoid bird mites, if you can. They are an experience no-one needs.
Pagiel, Guardian Angel of Your Heart's Desire
Date: 2017-12-20 06:21 am (UTC)Your reference to birds inspired me to look for a deck with birds, or at least beings with wings, and I ended up with the Heart & Soul Angel Cards. That also seems appropriate for the season, when angels are often present in art and music. If angel imagery is uncomfortable for you, let me know, though the images on these cards are not specific to any religion; they are bright, mostly abstract, and emotive.
The art on this card at first looks like a pink butterfly made of light, or perhaps an exotic flower--it's a little out of focus, but then Angels, like faeries, are beings who don't exactly fit into our plane of existence, so it's hard to see them clearly. It hovers over a calm, green pool, with ripples moving outward under and around it.
Pagiel's primary message is that your overall, long-term desire is achievable. The angel is ready to help you identify it if you aren't sure what it is, and to guard and guide you as you strive to achieve it--or to guard you and your dream if you have achieved it.
I find it interesting that the image is not in focus, that some details suggest it is one thing and other details suggest it is another. Our desires can be very much like that--hard to define and hard to describe, even if we know them when we see them. They can change over time too.
That subtle thing inside a person's soul, the urge to create beauty or safety, or to live a life of excitement or excellence--that's a very insubstantial thing, and yet, its existence does create ripples because it affects our choices and actions, which in turn affect not only our own lives, but the world around us.
I think the message Pagiel has for you is to have faith in your desires, and that there is a way to achieve them that is beneficial to you and to the people and the rest of the world around you. Pay attention to the ripples you make, eventually they bounce back toward the center and will affect you and your dream in turn. Taking time to meditate or reflect is beneficial, but it is not sufficient--saying that a dream can be achieved is not the same as promising that you will achieve it.
Interestingly, I did not find this image online at all, though there are other images of Pagiel, often with pink wings or as a pink butterfly, and some of those are quite beautiful.

Date: 2017-12-20 12:33 am (UTC)Ananchel, Angel of Grace
Date: 2017-12-20 06:39 am (UTC)And yet, the feel of the card is bright and centered. Perhaps the message is that even at this time of year, when there are so many tasks to accomplish and so many things pulling our attention in a dozen or more different directions, it is possible to stay centered and graceful, to bring light and peach and joy to the people around you.
Stay centered in your own inner light and your grace will shine.
These cards are interesting in that their backs are different mandalas. The one under this card is all reds and greens, with the image based on six intersecting circles. The back of this card is a mandala with a twelve-pointed star at the center, which makes me think of the months of the year, colored in reds, blues, and purples. I was also unable to find an image of this card online, though again the search was worth the time. Among other things, this is the name of a Magic the Gathering card.

Date: 2017-12-20 06:44 am (UTC)Yes, different people find more affinity in solar or lunar holidays, or in the more mundane ones, and that's perfectly fine. We wouldn't have them all if it weren't so.
May your holidays be merry and beautiful too!

Date: 2017-12-20 11:56 am (UTC)I am working on making my own holidays, and those of the people I love and the people who love me, as merry and beautiful and magickal as I possibly can. But I do need to remember not to overburden myself or stress out too much :-)

Date: 2017-12-20 10:18 pm (UTC)Some star-oriented ones would be nice too.
One of my favorite chants is:
We are of the body of the Earth,
The Earth is of the body of the Stars,
We are stars that circle from
Birth to Death to Birth

Date: 2017-12-24 02:48 am (UTC)The Piper
Date: 2017-12-24 03:45 am (UTC)But even if life is busy, and there's gifts to wrap, it's great to see you. I've just mopped the floor, and it has to dry, so why don't we head to the kitchen and grab a snack?
As I chatter, the house grows silent, and a thread of melody sounds. The music isn't intrusive. It focuses me, though, and I fall silent too, listening. A tall elf beckons us into the kitchen, not with his hands or voice, but with the music of his pan pipes.
Now that we're listening, he adds in harmonies. I can't tell how he's doing that, but he's a fairy, so I guess I can't expect to be able to learn to play music the way he does. Still, I'd like to. I make tea, and get out cookies and things, and set some in front of the Piper.
He plays a complicated phrase on the pipes, holding the notes as he gestures with his hand. Then he sets the pipes down, but the music continues. "I hate to do it this way for long," he says, "but a guy has to eat sometimes. And those cookies look good!"
I say, "Your music, it makes me want to listen, and to sing."
He smiles. "Sing, then, and listen. You need both at the same time to be part of the harmony."
"True enough."
He turns to you. "You can sing too, in voice or in your heart, and I'll add harmonies, harmonies for healing and growth, for creativity, harmonies to help you find your way. But you'll have to listen."
"To your music?"
He takes a bite of cookie, and the music soars. "To everything. To other people, to your dreams, to the world around you. My music is in all of them, even the difficult ones. Though the difficult ones have more trouble hearing me and harmonizing."
He finishes the cookie, and drinks down the hot tea in one long swallow. "Wow, that was a lot of words for me! Thanks for the snack." Then he picks the pipes up again and starts to play normally. He bows his thanks, and gives you a smile.
I think about so many more questions, but I think I know his answers. Listen, and try to create harmony. He wanders off, sill playing, and the echoes of his music remain long after he's gone.

Date: 2017-12-23 11:40 pm (UTC)something something creativity? I'm working on a novel called Stagecraft—femme-centric queer alt-history fantasy political genderfuck; having lots fun—and I would appreciate however many Daughters of the Moon cards to help direct the middle bits of the story.
Thank you!
This Middle
Date: 2017-12-24 04:48 am (UTC)How about theme / action / key?
Theme or Mood is: The Moon, Yemaya Mysteries and magic, inner power, secrets. The central figure is shown nude, in silhouette, from behind. She is reaching for the moon, or perhaps diving into the moon's path in the water.
Action: Here we have the Seven of Blades, showing an eskimo woman with spears set into the ice. Her dog is resting and she is down on one knee. Light shines off one of the blades. The card is titled Meditation.
And the key--key insight, perhaps, or the thing that is key to moving toward the climax of the story: Two of Pentacles, reversed. This is the bull dancers. The image shows two women leaping over a charging bull. It's a card of skill and timing and getting things just right--and it's reversed, so the key is that things aren't going right, the timing is off, or there's something to be learned, or the character is having a crisis of bravery or self-confidence (or all of the above).
But still, things must keep moving forward. The stop to rest and meditate is temporary, and it's time for zie to leap for zir dreams.
