Snow Moon Card Draw
Jan. 23rd, 2016 07:50 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
What with the blizzard in the news, and it being full moon tonight, it feels right to do another card draw. Come on in, have some tea or hot chocolate, and I'll draw a card for you. I hope you'll understand if you have to pour for yourself; I can only get so close to having you physically in my warm, friendly home. That does have some positive aspects--if you're allergic, the cats (always curious when magick is afoot) won't make you sneeze!
Today, for free one card readings, you can pick from the Brian Froud's Faeries Oracle, my combined Susan Seddon Boulet Animal Spirits and Goddesses cards, or the Shapeshifter Tarot. You can ask a question, ask for a Guide, for inspiration, or you can just ask for a card. You can also ask for a card or Guide for one of your characters or in some other way ask for advice or inspiration for a creative project.
The first card is free (though tips are always appreciated). Tips also let you ask me to use any of my other decks, to request a private reading, or to draw a clarifying card. If you want a longer reading, send a direct message so we can agree on the type of reading and rate.
I've written before about why I do readings and some of the decks I use here, feel free to hop over and check me out. I'll wait.
Please consider dropping something in the guitar case below. Readings take time and energy, and even though Milwaukee isn't enclosed in the blizzard, winter heat is pricey.
Signal boosts are very much appreciated, and earn you the right to ask for a clarifying card.
I understand all too well that sometimes people don't have cash or spoons, and it is generally during those times when people most need inspiration! Don't be afraid to ask for a card if you can't tip.
If you tip, it's helpful to me for you to mention it here so I can connect your paypal information with your request.
Tips should be at least $1 (Paypal charges fees). Alternatively, you can tip in Torn World/EMG credits. If neither of these work for you, drop me a message and we'll work something out.
I will reply to all requests. In the highly unlikely event that the number of requests nears my limits, I'll close this One Card Draw (by adding a clear note at the top of the post) rather than risk leaving anyone without a response.
Thank you, and Blessed Be!
As always, these readings are for entertainment and inspiration only. See my "Dandelyon's Readings" page if you have questions.

Date: 2016-01-23 03:29 pm (UTC)Scatter Kindness
Date: 2016-01-23 10:56 pm (UTC)For you, an ugly little fellow with big eyes and ears tumbles into the room. He is The Soul Shrinker, whose unfortunate task is kind of the opposite of the three monkeys--he observes what we say about each other and what is said about us. He Notices our cruelty, our malice, our unthinking harshness--but he also notices our kindnesses and the blessings we send out into the world.
If he shows up, it's certain that words are being said that are causing pain, intentionally or unintentionally. Magically, you can refuse to accept a curse--or a blessing, for that matter. But emotionally, those words have already taken a toll. He is looking around from where he lays tumbled all heels over head. His attention is not particularly directed at you. That's good--you wouldn't want him staring at you, ears all perked, pointedly miming "I hear what you're saying, why don't you?"
The Soul Shrinker's message is to stop that negativity by spreading blessings as much as you can. Being kind will dissipate the harmful energy, and sending out blessings will counteract any curses.
And in the very moment that I mention kindness, two horned, hooved fellows follow him in and pick him up. The younger one, Ta'Om the Poet, nods to you politely. "Music is good too!" The elder bows his head under a tangle of horns. "Don't worry too much about the details. In this instance, the intent is more important than the wisdom." The other two fairies look at The Sage in surprise, and he grumbles at them, "I didn't say wisdom is unimportant, just that you don't need wisdom to get started!" The poet smiles at that. "I've been telling you that for ages, old man! You have to start where you are!"

Date: 2016-01-24 10:14 am (UTC)If there is some sort of negativity or malice happening around you, I'm sure the Soul Shrinker will be happy to help you spot it. With that sort of thing, knowledge is definitely power.

Date: 2016-01-25 04:58 am (UTC)I once overheard my now-ex-husband "explaining" something I did to a mutual friend. I was so mad! He totally mischaracterized my motives and made me look bad. He was so hurt when I confronted him, saying he was only trying to help. The closest I could get to getting him to understand was to say that I'd rather have someone mad at me for something I'd actually done than for something he said that wasn't even true.
The friendship with the other person has never been the same. *sigh*

Date: 2016-01-25 08:52 am (UTC)I might well have pre-emptively explained things to my friend, if I had realized he had a question, but I didn't. My first clue was overhearing the second half of the conversation and at that point, I was too upset with my husband to be coherent and calm and talk to the friend, and then I didn't see him for months. Hmm...sounds like I could have used this faerie's presence back then, huh?
But that's all ancient history, and thank goodness for that!

Date: 2016-01-24 12:35 am (UTC)I've boosted your signal on my LJ and dropped a small tip in the guitar case. If a clarifying card seems called for, feel free to go there.
Thanks, wyld_dandelyon!
The Glanconer
Date: 2016-01-24 01:42 am (UTC)It's hard to see a thing clearly when we desperately want it. The Glanconer warns about rushing into things without thinking things through, reading the fine print, and checking it out.
However, as I went to put the cards back into the box after drawing the Glanconer, Indi popped out quite decisively. Indi is smaller, almost timid, and moves the bauble he is holding from hand to hand as if he's not sure where to put it or what to do with it. Indi's purpose in life is to warn about the dangers of spending your life undecided, of not committing to a path and giving whatever it is a fair chance to manifest in your life.
The two of them glare at each other, and then start bickering gently, like the lead character in a TV show and his comic-relief side-kick.
What an interesting pair to show up in the same reading! If you want a clarifying card, please ask, since I'm not at all sure what to make of them.
Re: The Glanconer
Date: 2016-01-24 01:10 pm (UTC)I'm thinking a clarifying card would be useful. So, please give that a go, if you have time.

Date: 2016-01-25 08:25 am (UTC)She gestures again at her throat, and then at her antennae, which also are glowing softly. Make sure you're saying what you need to, clearly and unambiguously, and listen to the other person(s) involved too, with an open mind. Don't let a preventable misunderstanding mess things up.

Date: 2016-01-24 03:04 am (UTC)I admit to asking because I enjoy your draws. :)
My preference is for the Faeries Oracle, but I bow to your greater experience and knowledge of your decks.
My story from last time has progressed at little - gunplay has occurred!
Also, I have tipped.
The Bodacious Bodach
Date: 2016-01-24 12:53 pm (UTC)But this time he's topsy-turvy. Perhaps he does something awkwardly, but exactly, perfectly _right_ and saves the day. Or he sees something that needs doing and just does it without mishap or fanfare. Or he gossips to the right person and a necessary connection is made.
He's no less bodacious, of course, but maybe, just maybe, he's learning. Or he just got lucky this time--but thank goodness. Either way, be sure to thank him--he could grow into his power someday, gain some wisdom, and learn when and how to meddle so the consequences of his actions are usually helpful, instead of ranging from comical to disastrous.

Date: 2016-01-24 12:58 pm (UTC)As to decks, almost all of the time any of them would do from my point of view, but the choice can be very meaningful to the querant. I am very much enjoying the Faeries, however, so I was happy to go with them.
Let me know if you want a clarification card.

Date: 2016-01-25 09:06 am (UTC)She points out that patience is not merely the absence of impatience, trust is more than the absence of distrust, and creativity is like that too. The flow matters. She offers you the cup, so you can partake of the flow and then pass it on into your story and into your life.
I'm not at all sure how this "clarifies" the previous card, but this is the faerie that came in response to your query.
