Solar Roof
Aug. 22nd, 2008 03:02 pmEver wonder about putting solar panels on your roof? I know I have. Here's a cool site:
www.roofray.com/calculator
It's not perfect--it lets you choose just one roof surface, but you can make the surface whatever shape your roof is. Just put in your address, outline the roof, and follow directions. You get a projected comparison between what you say your electric bill is and what rays you'll soak up, given your local climate. And you can look at the total costs and how long they project the electric bill savings will take to recoup your investment.
And I don't know enough to personally vouch for the accuracy of the various figures they use (climate statistics, cost of installation, etc. But it's a good dream.
Wish I had more money to put into house repairs & improvements!
