I just saw on the television (ABC) a brief news story--Detroit got a federal grant to help 3500 families with rent and other living expenses. They had 35000 people in line to apply for that money.

Wow!

I can see, when things get better, that it may in the very long run work well for Michigan. But in this short run where the growing season was so poor, and winter coming, and people need roofs and heating oil/gas, and food, and all the other necessities of life, having ten times the number of people who can get aid there to apply for it on the very first day, that's scary.

Wow, that's really harsh. So many people who need help and won't get it.

Yeah. I'm now on "emergency extended" unemployment, with no upswing in how many jobs are available for someone with my skills and job history. I've started actively applying for part time work, as well as expanding the stuff I'm applying for. Though there are plenty of applicants out there, so I don't have lots of hope that anyone out of the field I've been working in is likely to hire me.

Got to write more, I guess. And hope!
