My "Day of Peace"
Sep. 21st, 2009 10:11 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Started a little before 7:30 a.m. with the sound of a jackhammer right outside my window. Well, OK, technically outside my Aunt's window, and technically a house or two over. My bleary-eyed trip to the bathroom proved I had the runs. Well, I've been on antibiotics so many times, sometimes that happens if I'm short on sleep, though usually not right away. So I had some yogurt hoping it would rebalance my intestinal fauna and went back to sleep. Or tried to. An hour later I proceeded to be sick more than one way. Bleah! And the construction continued until 4:30.
So, I spent the day alternately trying to sleep and starting to catch up on Shadow Unit. Both the newer episodes and the additional scenes and vignettes. If you haven't read some of this, I strongly suggest you check it out. Think Criminal Minds with a science fiction twist. If you haven't read any of it, I do strongly suggest reading the episodes in order. This would mean scrolling down to Seaon 1.
Somewhere in the middle of this, I checked my e-mail, and found I'd won the artist portion of the first wiki-entry contest for Torn World. You can see the two winning entries here. The first winner posted is the winner in the writing category, which was won by
ysabetwordsmith though I painted the illustration. The second one, both the art and the writing are mine. I'm definitely excited, though being sick takes the edge off it, to a surprising degree.
So, if you want to see some of the art I've been doing and not posting, you can follow the link above.
I also think it's really cool that all the entries were high-enough quality and fit Ellen's vision of Torn World well enough, to become canon. That bodes well, I think, for the site to draw lots of readers as it gets to be fully open.
In other news, there's a flash fiction award that I can submit one of my stories to come October. If you want to weigh in on which of the stories I have posted here is the best, I'll probably post a poll with links next week, but will listen to opinions anytime.
I do support world peace, though I don't think I can be eloquent about it right now.
