The holidays are always busy, and always fraught with food-danger. I lost most of Christmas Day to food allergies, but had a good Christmas anyway, getting to see family and being gifted with way too many Deirdre-safe cookies and even a pie by my daughter. Oh, well, those will keep.
But that put me behind on writing things, and I ended up working on a story far too late into the night today. But I did finish it by the deadline to submit it--and when I read it aloud after submitting it, found almost no typos. (I'd rather none at all, of course, but a 4000+ word story with only a couple of typos isn't horrible.)
So, here we are on New Year's Day, looking at a new year that, I hope, will bring better things to us all than the old one did. Come, visit a while, and I'll do a reading if you want.
As always, New friends and old are very welcome.
(Edit: I tried to put a picture in here and kept getting an error message. *sigh*)
About the readings,
You can simply ask for a single card (with the usual clarifying card for people who tip). The guitar case below is my personal PayPal link, featuring my own artwork, which still inspires me even though it isn't Tarot-related.
I am also offering a five-card reading for $25, or if you want a larger reading we can discuss costs. A signal boost for readings or for my Patereon will allow you to ask for a clarification card on some part of this reading, if you wish.
Regardless of the length of the reading, you may ask about real life or a creative project, even for a character you play in a game. I can draw a card for you to meditate on, to represent the Guide you need right now, or to get you unstuck. I can draw a card for your protagonist or villain, or can draw a card or cards for you to use as writing or art prompts, and I can modify a more-traditional five-card spread into a prompt for a story focusing on plot or characters or a little of both. Let me know if you have any particular request.
For free one card readings, you can pick from my decks, including the Brian Froud's Faeries Oracle, the Daughters of the Moon Tarot (one of the round decks), or the Shapeshifter Tarot. If you want a Guide to companion you in the new year or the holidays, the Susan Seddon Boulet or Fairies Oracle both work well. If you don't pick a deck, I might pick from any of the decks available to me.
The first card is free (though tips are always appreciated). I understand all too well that when people don't have cash or spoons that is generally when they most need inspiration. Don't be afraid to ask for a card if you can't tip.
When you tip, it's helpful to me for you to mention it here so I can connect your Paypal information with your request. Tips should be at least $2 (Paypal charges fees). If Paypal doesn't work for you, drop me a message and we'll work something out.
I will reply to all requests, though with the holidays, there may be a delay in getting to you.
Thank you, Blessed Be, and may your new year be full of joy and dreams made happily true!

As always, while I work hard to offer insight and inspiration, all I can legally promise is entertainment. See my "Dandelyon's Readings" page if you have questions.

Fox
Date: 2018-01-01 08:54 am (UTC)The first thing I notice as I look at this image for you is the bowl of food. In my mind, it's a bowl of cereal and milk, comfort food for the morning, a note on the importance of taking care of yourself, of getting the nourishment and comfort you need to move forward with your day. Fox is always about cunning, but also creativity and enjoying life. I like the warm colors, and the way she is smiling at you. I think she will make you a good ally.
I will also note that Fox was sticking close to Coyote as I drew the card. You may find that your Fox is a bit of a trickster, or even that you have a pack rather than a single guide.

Congrats on finishing the story.

Date: 2018-01-01 09:37 am (UTC)Do you have a preference about how I should do your two cards? Two aspects of your year (inner and outer? Something else?) Or do you want me to draw one card and let you ask a question after hearing that message? I'm not getting any intuitive feeling about how best to structure this for you, so if you have a preference, let me know.

The Father, reversed, and Struggle
Date: 2018-01-02 12:56 am (UTC)For you, I drew The Father, Reversed. I think you are feeling Shashigai's loss very keenly right now. You should be aware that all of the firsts -- first baby, first new year, first holidays, and so on--those always sharpen grief for a while. The Father here is pictured more as a magician than the Emperor (though as Card 4 in the Major Arcana, that is the corresponding card in other decks). He is shown in summer, with warm colors and abundance all around. He holds a crystal ball in one hand, and lightning in the other, and is surrounded by a host of animals, including a wolf. A bird flies overhead, and my instinct is that is you, as the wolf in the next card is also being guarded or overseen by a bird, wings outspread, above it.
That brings us to the child's card. It is the five of the air element, which is wands in this deck, and is titled Struggle. A wolf is shown in the foreground, walking over over the snow. There is a bare mountain behind, and bare branches all around, with icicles visible, partially obscuring the moon. There are challenges ahead. However, I also remember that we are in the winter of the year, the time when seeds sleep safe in the ground. Right now, the child sleeps safe in you, growing. Though you feel the loss of its father keenly, you can keep the baby warm and safe, until the Spring of birth and all the little Springs of intentional creation work their magic.
In the meantime, sing to the child, let it know it's welcome and loved. Make sure to take care of yourself and get the medical care you and the child may need. Take particular care that the baby gets the nutrition it needs, and if the doctors have any worries in that regard, take them seriously, both before and after the birth.
Life is always a struggle, that's the gift you're giving your child. These cards clearly show the most important things to address in the coming months, but remember, struggle often ends in success, so long as you don't give up. As the bird high overhead, you can guide your little wolf cub safely through those brambles, and winter never lasts forever. Every season has its challenges and its joys.

Geeeeooo the Slooooow
Date: 2018-01-02 01:21 am (UTC)You come and visit, and we chat for quite a while, and finally it's time to go, with nothing accomplished but a good chat. Not that that's bad, mind you, but we both have things to do and dreams to make real, and we really hadn't planned how to make our visit help things along.
You head on your way, and are nearly back home when you spy Geeeeooo tangled in a bush. You stop to help him out. It's a slow, painstaking process, and he is patient except for when whatever you're doing isn't helpful. "It's important to take the time necessary to do a good job, but there is such a thing as too slow. Here, here, let me help you figure out where you might be rushing past important parts of the task, and where you need to firmly move forward or push for action by someone else."

A collective of Pixies
Date: 2018-01-02 01:46 am (UTC)We chat while I fold laundry, but not for long, since a collective of pixies appears, skinny and chubby, all genders and all colors, with hair and without. They each grab something from the basket and fold it, though the shapes are unconventional. One even makes a set of origami swans out of my kitchen towels!
Somehow, no matter how strangely-folded, the clothes all fit in the drawer, and the swans are left perching on the microwave until they are needed.
"That was fun!" they cry. "What's next?"
And they're right. The way they did laundry, with singing and dancing and creativity, is a lot more fun than the way I usually do laundry.
And they have come to be your companions in the coming year, a reminder that you don't have to (and shouldn't) separate duty from fun, and that companions along the way lighten the work, and that singing, dancing, and laughter are, in and of themselves, good things.

Date: 2018-01-02 01:43 am (UTC)Morning Glory - Balance
Date: 2018-01-02 02:41 am (UTC)The image is a cadeuceus with a man and woman standing, balanced, one on each side of the shaft. Twining around it is a morning glory, with buds and flowers reaching up for the light of day. The man and woman stand in a way reminiscent of The Lovers in other decks, though this deck isn't set up to follow the pattern of a regular Tarot deck, so this isn't The Lovers in different guise. It is labeled card 33.
I have morning glories in my garden. They seem so fragile, those thin stalks twining up whatever is there--an ugly old fence, a lilac tree, a tall weed, and a rosebush are all the same to them. They twine up and start to open as soon as the light starts to show in the sky, and stay open until the sun wears them out. And they are prolific--they reseed every year without any help from me, and can end up in places I never planned to have their cheerful blue and purple flowers, physical and spiritual.
This card speaks of balance between dissimilar things, between light and dark, inner and outer, passion and contemplation. It also speaks of the power of meditation, of creative visualization, and of the sheer power of never giving up, of sending your creative seeds forth, because only then can they take root and blossom.
With it so very cold tonight, here where I am, I am finding the warm colors in this card and the memory of summer that it brings comforting and joyous.
Happy new year!

Date: 2018-01-03 03:22 am (UTC)Yeah, we'd have to substitute for the corn flour; they make some good rice-tapioca-potato flours that can be substituted pretty close to 1:1 for normal flour in recipes.
I hope your holidays have been great! Do let me know if you want a card.
Have you peeked at my Patreon? There are posts there that aren't here, and that are open to all readers, in addition to the patron-only posts.

Date: 2018-01-02 12:05 pm (UTC)For the Full Moon of the New Year, I'd like the usual random information. I've left a tip. Thanks!
Goddess of Earth, Reversed
Date: 2018-01-03 05:02 am (UTC)The image is a rabbit woman, standing proud before a cauldron that has light pouring from it. Her other hand showers a cascade of flowers--upward, in this case, since the card is reversed. She is the 14th card of the Earth Element (Pentacles).
In one sense, this is indeed the time of year when the Earth Goddess' power is weakest. Her power will grow, of course, until it reaches its height at midsummer.
But more personally, I suspect that the traditional significations of pentacles apply--skill, finances, and practicalities. You are advised to look into those areas of your life, build skills and be careful with the rest. I will hope that the symbolism of her being also a rabbit is helpful, allowing you to increase your resources as the year progresses, but it's a clear warning that you need to be mindful. Take care of the seeds that those flowers represent, and sow them wisely, so you will reap the harvest that you need.
Re: Goddess of Earth, Reversed
Date: 2018-01-03 10:20 am (UTC)My son is 38, and an excellent cook. As I mentioned earlier, he puts together a yearly Yule Feast on the Solstice; he makes the most creative, delicious foods he can, and that's his gift to all his friends. (Of course, he learned it all from me...)
Rabbits are particularly special to me. When my son was a toddler, Rabbit was his totem animal, and in a few more years we started having pet rabbits. When he went away to college, they became my rabbits, until the last of them died (they live such brief lives!), and I still miss my bunnies. So the very first thing that struck me about this reading is a Rabbit as the Earth Goddess. I know enough about cartomancy to realize that a reversed card isn't necessarily the opposite of the same card upright, nor is it necessarily "bad luck". I do pretty well at any season of the year with skill and practicalities, but finances have always been something I have trouble understanding. I suppose I ought to try harder to understand them, so they will multiply like rabbits!
