Happy Blue Moon, everyone!  I know that a blue moon is, essentially, an accident of the calendar, but still, it feels magical, so I feel a need to mark it somehow, and sharing some small measure of that magic seems appropriate.

So you're welcome to simply ask for a card or ask a specific question. You can also request inspiration for a creative project, a reading for one of your characters, a guide for a project or time period, or just something to meditate on.

Tips are welcome, but not necessary--I know that often when a person needs inspiration the most is exactly the time that they're pinched financially.  You can comment here on this live journal post using your facebook or via open ID. If you tip, you can also ask for an additional card, or a card from any other deck I have. Not sure if I have a particular deck? You're welcome to ask.

Free readings can be from the Daughters of the Moon Tarot, the Shapeshifter Tarot or the Faeries' Oracle. Alternatively, I can draw you (or your character) a Guide from my combined deck of Susan Seddon Boulet art cards.

Finally, you could ask to have my Torn World character, Rai Kunabei, do a disk reading for you or for a torn world character of your choice. This will take the form of an imaginary visit to Torn World and will feature the divination disks I designed for that world. Feel free to include some details about yourself to help me portray you in this world.

If you can, please consider dropping something in the virtual guitar case below! Readings take time and energy.  Tips should be at least $1 (Paypal charges fees) or at least one Torn World credit. If neither of these work for you, drop me a message and we'll work something out.

Signal boosts are also appreciated. If you are tipping or boosting the signal, please include that in your reply here, so I'm not guessing when I sit down to do your reading. If you tipped or boosted the signal, feel free to request a clarification card if you want one.

You can get a private reading if you tip; I'll send the reading to the e-mail you use for tipping or you can send a private message to make other arrangements. I'm also open to doing longer paid readings, for instance Celtic Cross or Wheel of the Year; again, please send a private message if you're interested.

I will do readings promptly, however, life's been complicated lately and there is one final bit of work on my house (a hole in a bump-out roof) that can't wait for me to pay off the other repairs, and if the guy who is to fix it is available (he's trying to schedule around when his wife has her baby) I may need to spend a bunch of time on that project.  I am also making an effort to be very well rested before I make the very long drive to visit my mother, since I'll be driving alone.  (My Angel is staying home to care for the cats and all.)  Anyway, all this means it might take a little time to get to your request, but I will reply to all requests posted here. In the unlikely event that the number of free requests nears my limits, I'll close this One Card Draw (with a nice obvious edit to this post) rather than risk leaving anyone without a response.

Finally, I want to say, "Thank you" for joining me in my celebration of the blue moon.

As always, in accordance with federal law, these readings are for entertainment and inspiration only. See my "Dandelyon's Readings" page if you have questions.

May I please have a reading from the Daughters of the Moon Tarot?

A little buoying up and possible writing inspiration would be appreciated - my desk computer is unstable and I have non-financial pressures from other directions.

P.S. I have signal boosted.

Coyote Woman Leaps the Bulls

Date: 2015-07-31 07:54 am (UTC)

For you, I drew Coyote Woman, who is, of course, The Trickster. She dances in the sunset, or perhaps the sunrise. Perhaps it doesn't matter, for when you dance in a liminal time, you are, by definition, dancing the transition between past and future and the beginning and the ending connected to that moment matter equally. The Trickster often brings lessons learned the hard way, but also a willingness to laugh about it and to have fun, even if the rules would seem to preclude that--or perhaps especially if the rules seem stacked against her.

Your second card is the Bull Dancers, which corresponds to the Two of Pentacles. It is a card of skill and balance. It seems to me to be a reasonable continuation of Coyote Woman's wildness, but bringing in the skills, focus, and dedication needed to evade most of the hard knocks. Like the trickster, the dancers take the bull by the horns and let its momentum carry them gracefully where they want to go, then let it go unharmed and go their own way with a dance step and a smile for the inherently creative chaos of the world.

Oooh a reading from Daughters of the Moon about where do I need to focus my energies. Please and thank you.

Isis and Nu Kiva

Date: 2015-07-31 05:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wyld-dandelyon.livejournal.com
For you, I drew Isis, here labeled The Priestess. Isis is the goddess of nature and magic. She is in particular the friend of slaves, sinners, artisans and the downtrodden, and is heralded as an ideal mother and wife. Here, she is shown with wings spread wide and holding a huge pearl (or perhaps the full moon) in front of her womb, metaphorically the source of all kinds of creativity, not only fertility of the body. She is calm, resting or meditating. And, of course, she is powerful in whatever sphere of life she might choose to act. Unless you have some specific existing connection to Isis, I don’t think this answers your question, but perhaps she is here to reassure you that you do have energy to focus, all you need to do is reach inward to touch it, hold it, and use it, instead of letting it remain mostly potential, like the symbolic crown on Isis’ head.

As a clarifying card, I drew the One of Pentacles, Nu Kiva. A woman is in what might be a martial arts stance, legs spread for stability, letting a fiery pentacle (perhaps the sunrise?) peek through, and hands held as if to signify “as above so below”. Or perhaps she is sitting on the drum that is her fiery pentacle, and her hands are in motion, slapping the drum to make it sing out. Or perhaps the creativity that was still, metaphorically, in the womb in the previous image is now being birthed into the world in this one. Or, in the way of metaphors, perhaps all three images are equally apt.

I believe the message for you is that you definitely should focus your energies and make your dreams manifest in the world, but that you can and must choose the area of focus yourself. It is not for me or even the Goddess to determine your path, because that is your right and your privilege. The cards showed no advisers around you, so though you may have many advisers in real life, remember that the choice is yours and yours alone.

Of course, the images were drawn for you and not for me. I hope they inspire you.

Thank you for the tip!

Thank you very much. For me I think the message is part about going back to basics, the things that center and ground me. Your suggestion of choosing for myself is kinda a bop on the back of the head. (friendly feedback that comes before the kick on the rear if I don't listen to Goddess.)

Thank you for your patience!

Since you're asking about energy, I picked Brian Froud's Faerie Oracle, which seems to me to be well-attuned to the energies in people and the universe.

The Singers of the Chalice and of Connection

Date: 2015-08-04 07:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wyld-dandelyon.livejournal.com
The Singer of the Chalice appears in a blaze of golden light. Her form is ample, arms spread wide in joy and welcome as she sings. This faerie celebrates the positive energies of the universe, trust, love, patience, compassion, healing, and all the rest. She won't drown you in them, however. You have to choose to be open to the energy and you choose how much to partake. She says to trust yourself and be open to partaking in the energies you need to accomplish your goals.

With her is the Singer of Connection, who appears as another blaze of light, but thinner, with strands of energy flowing in all directions. This faery appears leaner than the Singer of the Chalice, but that's because her she's reaching across the universe all at once. Her focus is on the connections that help things to work properly. She says for you to be aware of the connections between the different aspects of your projects, as well as the connections between aspects of yourself and your projects and between you and your collaborators, co-workers, and clients.

Together, they sing of joy, creativity, balance, and empathy. They came together from the deck to my hand, clearly indicating that the message for you isn't two separate songs, but a single duet. I would therefore suggest that focusing on just one aspect of the message won't be as productive as keeping both aspects of their song in mind.
