I did e-mail (well, actually facebook-message) one of the local county politicians here with my concern; she is looking into it. It may be that there really were a bunch of emergencies at that time. If not, she won't be shy in reminding the police that her constituents matter.
The surgery did go well, and so did the call to the plumber, except of course, for having to pay him while I'm still laid off. Stuff like that makes it harder to keep my spirits up in this dreadful economy!
