My kitchen sink (and probably the drain sink for the laundry, which is right below it) is not draining.  We stayed up way too late last night trying to get it to start draining, and discovering things like the snake stored in the basement is broken.  I'm not about to call a plumber on the weekend, at least not while the toilets and other sinks are working and I remain unemployed.  So, Monday I get to call a plumber.

I haven't gotten any interviews after the several "screening calls" I've gotten in the last month.  One woman said the last time they had an opening they got about a dozen resumes; this time they had over 200.  The litigation atmosphere for personal injury is tight, so they're not hiring secretaries (the last time one of those was advertised, they e-mailed me to tell me that they decided not to fill the position) and everyone else tells me they found someone whose experience more closely matches what they need.  And the new listings this week all required (or strongly desired) stuff I don't  have, like three+ years of daily experience with contracts, or real estate.

I have a lot of housecleaning to do for a planned filk at my house next Saturday.  And taking a carload of stuff to the thrift store, to get it out of here.  Which I'd planned for, true (though without the plumber), but...

...this evening I got word that my Aunt broke her hip, she will probably get a hip replacement tomorrow, and I may be needed in Chicago on short notice.

Life is....full....
