A friend of my son's recommended a book to me - she's a licensed practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine. The book is called The Spark In The Machine, and the "spark" is chi, the energy that powers the body. The author has a degree in Western-style medicine from a British medical school, and he compares the way Western and Chinese medicine conceptualize the body. And considering my own personal relationship with electricity, it's a useful way of thinking about the body. Still doesn't give me much in the way of healing ability, but it helps me conceptualize it.
