New Moon Card Draw - and Happy Spring!
It's a New Moon this evening, so I'm opening my garden for a card draw. As always, I hope to send some good energy out into the world, to spark some hope and creativity. You can ask about real life or a creative project, or even a game. I can draw a card for you to meditate on, to represent the Guide you need right now, or to get you unstuck. I can draw a card for a character or can draw a card or cards for you to use as writing or art prompts--starting something new is a traditional use of New Moon energy. But ask what you will, because now is always transforming into a new moment.
I hope you will stop by my garden. It's warm this evening, the grass is green, the roses are mostly starting to bud, and the dandelions and weeds are growing. There's a few tulips and daffodils--they're thinner than I would wish, since the squirrels think they're food when we first plant them, but spring blooms are always welcome. You and I can share hot chocolate or tea and chat, and you can get a reading if you would like one.
New friends and old are welcome.
For free one card readings, you can pick from the Brian Froud's Faeries Oracle, the Daughters of the Moon Tarot (one of the round decks), or the Shapeshifter Tarot. You can ask a question, ask for a Guide or for inspiration, or you can just ask for a card. I don't need to know what your question is, but you are welcome to share it with me if you like.
The first card is free (though tips are always appreciated). Tips also let you ask me to use any of my other decks, including but not limited to my combined Susan Seddon Boulet Animal Spirits and Goddesses cards. Tipping ca also be used to request a private reading, or to draw a clarifying card. If you want a longer reading, send a direct message so we can agree on the type of reading and rate.
Please consider dropping something in the guitar case below. Readings take time and energy, and even though the Milwaukee winter, like everything else, has been affected by global warming, winter heat is pricey and old houses always need repair somewhere or other.
Signal boosts are very much appreciated, and also earn you the right to ask for a clarifying card.
I understand all too well that when people don't have cash or spoons that is generally when they most need inspiration! Don't be afraid to ask for a card if you can't tip.
If you tip, it's helpful to me for you to mention it here so I can connect your paypal information with your request. Tips should be at least $1 (Paypal charges fees). If that doesn't work for you, drop me a message and we'll work something out.
I've written before about why I do readings and some of the decks I use here, feel free to hop over and check me out. I'll wait.
I will reply to all requests. In the highly unlikely event that the number of requests nears my limits, I'll close this card draw by adding a clear note at the top of the post rather than risk leaving anyone without a response. However, I intend to stay open at least through Thursday morning, and longer for paid readings. The weekend will be busy, so if you get your request in after noon on Thursday, I may not draw your card until Sunday night. If that's all right with you, it's all right with me!
Thank you, and Blessed Be!
As always, these readings are for entertainment and inspiration only. See my "Dandelyon's Readings" page if you have questions.

I think I just want to know whatever the Universe wants to tell me, this time. And the guitar case is a gram or two heavier than it was.

Coyotewomon
Coyote learns lessons the hard way, but if you pay attention to zir stories, you might avoid the same mistakes. That's a part of the message here. But it's not all of it. Another part is the in-between-ness, the time in a right of passage when you are no longer who you were, but you are not yet who you will be. There is a power in that ambiguity. If all directions are no-direction, it might seem that it's impossible to make wise choices, but you have Coyote to guide you, not with zir words (there is always the chance the Trickster might try to trick you, or might believe zir own propaganda), but observing zir example will show you both pratfalls and safer paths.
Also, there are clouds overhead--perhaps a signal that a storm is coming? If so, you might get the rare chance to see the desert bloom!
Re: Coyotewomon
I always do try to learn from other people's mistakes - it's so much less stressful than making all the mistakes myself! And I tend to enjoy in-between-ness - there's so much possibility there! I will very carefully step where Coyote doesn't, and isn't that a fun way to dance? Oh, and, of course, I love thunderstorms, and those cacti are about to be covered with huge colorful blossoms :-)
Now I just have to figure out what this means :-)
Thank you!

Calafia, Maiden of Flames
The group is clearly ready for a confrontation of some sort. There are no smiles, and they are alert and ready. The area where they are standing is bare, a beach or desert perhaps, or perhaps a practice ring or arena. It is night.
And whatever is about to happen, well, the time is now.
Re: Calafia, Maiden of Flames
Thank you for the draw!
Re: Calafia, Maiden of Flames
I have no clue whether this is a reading for your life or if it is instead intended to be inspiration for some creative endeavor. I think these gals would fit right in during Sea Monster Month, for instance.

I have tipped with the note that the tip is this for this user name, so perhaps a clarifying card too please?
Honesty and the Sylph
As you walk through the garden, you see an old bed, old shelves, ugly plastic border thingies and other stuff piled neatly against a fence under our oldest lilac. The City has declared this the week that we must leave big stuff out to be collected in my neighborhood, if we want it collected for free. One week in a year is hardly enough, but it's better than none, I suppose. I thank you for your patience; by the time we finished dragging the stuff in the basement that got moldy outside, I was totally wrecked last night.
Near my first spring dandelion, we find honesty floating upside down. Is he reversed, indicating that you might need to examine whether you are being honest with yourself? Or is he merely upright with respect to your hemisphere? Either way, truth matters--and in matters where it's not about true and false, as in contract negotiations or relationships, clarity matters. Assumptions about even the most basic things (like gravity?) aren't always obvious to all the parties involved.
While we are pondering Honesty, Taitin the Sylph whizzes by, spinning Honesty around like a top. He shakes his head at her, but smiles, and she offers her hand. He takes her hand and gracefully inverts himself to stand on the grass, and she sits on his shoulder. Taitin reminds us that ideas are wild and free, and it's great to entertain them for a while, but eventually you need to use that intellect to do more than generate more of them. It's time to look at them carefully, pick the one that's the best for you in this exact moment, polish it, shine it up with all the fairy dust available (Taitin is happy to share) and change reality.
If you are being challenged by a lack of honesty or clarity, or if your mental defenses are working a bit too well and obscuring something you need to see clearly, Taitin's message is that your intellect is an important tool in discerning that. But first, she says, she hopes we have some chocolate. Honesty's face brightens at that prospect as well, so we head inside to rummage in the kitchen and find refreshments.
I don't know that I've found you anything to warm you for the winter, but I can offer tea or hot chocolate!

There is more sorting to do....

We may have found a new house, and even though it's not certain yet, I'm getting excited about design. So that's my creative project right now.
Edit: Forgot to mention I put in a tip.
Maat
There are always things to balance in making a home--time and money are always limited. Keep in mind that the lives in the home are the center of the circle, and that matters more than a more artificial perfection of design--but with such a powerful card, I suspect you can do a lot to achieve your design goals in a way that enhances that center.
As to the deck itself, you're welcome to look at the cards. Daughters of the Moon has a website here: http://www.daughtersofthemoon.com/major-arcana/
Thank you for the tip! Let me know if you want a clarifying card, or just a card for inspiration. A new house is exciting!

Re: Maat
I hope you're right about the house being in harmony. We're still doing inspections on it because there's a foundation crack, and I want it to be that we can afford to repair it (we took the amount of the estimate off the asking price) and not have to give it up and start looking again. We chose it in part because of details like a little square basement window that would make a perfect cat door. Partner really wants a cat but I'm allergic, so our idea is to let the cat be in the raised, finished basement which is his space, and outside. The upstairs is mine.
I want to paint. I've done it before and I'm working on colours. The deep red, gold, browns and blues in that card are a little like the ones I'm playing with in Photoshop.
I'm rambling. I'd be happy to have another card though. I don't have a specific question but inspiration is good.
Five of Blades: The Hurricaine
I'm not positive that this is the house for you--certainty is beyond the scope of what I can do with cards--but I am sure you have the resources to make the home you choose harmonious, if you keep that goal in mind and do the necessary work.
So, another card, for inspiration, and I get the hurricane. Really, cards?
Well, it does have browns golds, blues, and a hint of red, so it's the same color scheme, but it doesn't seem very inspiring at first glance.
Ok, well--the first thing that comes to my mind is to check the house carefully for storm damage. The second is that you will want to make sure the house is well weatherproofed in case of future storms. The third is the allergy thing and wind--make sure you have good air flow in the areas the cat will inhabit.
Then I notice there is a sailboat off to one side, but it does not seem threatened by the storm. You'd think it would be. Perhaps what the card means is that in this house--or in the one you choose--you can create shelter from whatever storms, physical or metaphorical, you will face in the future.
In a way, I suppose that is inspiration, of a sort--creating a peaceful haven, a harbor from all storms--that sounds like a good inspiration, or at least a good goal, to me.
Re: Five of Blades: The Hurricaine
Don't worry, I know the reading of the cards isn't the guide of whether to get that particular house. That's why we've called professionals to do the inspection.
But maybe the hurricane is accurate. One of the things that's really important to me about working with tarot is not to hide amongst pretty shiny interpretations. I want to see the negative too.
The foundation problem is related to water damage, and what might be needed for the fix is a proper drainage system. This isn't a part of the world that gets hurricanes, but it does get more rain than I'm used to. I think you're right about making sure that any fix includes good weatherproofing.
Good shelter, peaceful haven, a harbor from storms physical and metaphorical, it would be wonderful if owning a house could mean these things.
Re: Five of Blades: The Hurricaine
(I wonder when the notice for your reply to "the hurricane" will arrive in my e-mail! I'm over on DW under the same user-name, so you can find me if LJ implodes or their new management kicks my queer ass out of here for being "political".)
Re: Maat
LJ isn't doing so well!
