Sitting is not the most effective way to garden, normally, but at least I was able to sit in the sun, pick some weeds, and take down stems from morning glories, tomatoes, cucumbers, and beans from last year. I broke or cut them into small bits, along with the weeds, and those got tossed onto the compost. My Angel came out for a while, helped a bit with that, and also planted sunflowers along the neighbor's driveway. I've repeatedly tried to grow beans and peas there with dubious success, so I decided it's time to try something different. It might just be that that stretch doesn't get enough sun, but it could also be that the soil isn't as healthy there, and if it's that, the sunflowers will leech lead and stuff from the soil while looking pretty.

I also asked the neighbor to ask the landlord next door about finishing cutting down the ancient mulberry there, so they don't have a mess of mulberries next month. He had promised to come in the fall to do that, and didn't, and also didn't return my calls in the last few weeks. Maybe having one of his tenants remind him of the upcoming deluge of purple will get him to do that.

I'm hoping so, as that will mean more sun in my garden, and those berries don't do us any good anyway since they're too high up for picking. We have younger trees for harvesting berries from.

Finally I wandered a bit through the yard to take pictures. The lilacs are blooming (and smell wonderful!), and the snowball spirea are starting to bloom too. Some of the chives have put up tiny purple flower buds.

I really prefer the purples in the flowers, and not under my skin, but I have that aplenty too, in all the places they tried to take blood (successfully or not). And my chest still is tight from the covid, unpredictably worse or a little better for random amounts of time.

But even if I had to alternate doing really low-energy activity with doing nothing but sit in the sun, it was very nice to be in the sun and enjoying the scents of the flowers drifting by. And I listened to FilkCast too. Much less boring than just falling in bed.
