I hate FedEx
May. 11th, 2022 05:12 pmYesterday was lovely, summery weather, so of course I had to go to the dentist. Just a cleaning, but still, not being outside when it was warm and lovely. I got one tomato plant in the ground around noon, and just the time to do that in already-turned ground had my skin warning me about how easily I could get sunburn if I stayed out at that time of day. After the appointment, I wasn't at my best, but managed to plant one more before I went in in the hope that dinner would be ready shortly.
The day before was lovely, not as hot, but very windy. I put one plant out and made it a windbreak, and it still lost at least one set of leaves to the wind. I think it will be fine, but I decided not to plant any more delicate seedlings that day. (This one was one of the surprise volunteers that started growing in December when I accidentally splashed one of my empty pots while watering house plants, and was about 3 feet tall and pretty sturdy for a potted seedling.)
Today, I sat by my front porch window watching for the UPS guy, except for a brief stop in the kitchen for food and a call of nature. No TV, music, or anything to keep me from hearing a step on the porch or a call, and windows open, and still the delivery person managed to get onto the porch and away without getting my signature and leaving my package, leaving me just a tag on the door. The tag didn't even have the address to go to to pick it up after the driver is done with their route on it, so I had to call and deal with trying to talk to a guy whose accent was so thick I couldn't tell if he said Milwaukee or Pewaukee, and who was not the least bit sympathetic to the fact that I'd been babysitting the front porch for hours only to get an extra errand to run instead of my package.
I could try just waiting to see if I can intercept the driver tomorrow or Friday, of course, but I've had such terrible luck with Fedex delivering here, I would hesitate to tie myself to trying to do things within view of the front door even if I didn't know tomorrow will be impossible, since I have to get my partner to a dentist appointment where she should not be driving home herself.
Still, why can't I, just once, have a good delivery experience from FeEx? Other delivery services seem to do just fine, with only a rare problem. I don't think I've had anything delivered to the right place on the first attempt by FedEx the whole time I've lived here.
I guess I should count my blessings that at least they didn't deliver today's package to the wrong place.
