I love new glasses. Everything that's been blurry becomes clear, whole new vistas open up even though I'm in the same places I've been in for years.
It's like that moment in a story when suddenly you notice the background details that have been there all along, just meaningless (but pretty) local color. Before they were fuzzy and random, only noticed if some bit of movement or a virtual spotlight highlighted them. Suddenly, the picture is clear and the details stand out on their own, because they matter, because their presence or absence makes a difference.
Except, of course, in the real world, the suddenly-noticed presence of a billboard covered with insipid abstract art and depressingly realistic (and huge) beer cans really doesn't matter and has no significance whatsoever to my personal story arc.
