A lot of my writing time in the last couple of weeks has been spent on Torn World things. I have a new story there that should be published soon, whose main character is written up, and will likely be ready to adopt on the day the story appears. One of the two other adoptable characters I designed, and who are already up on the site, also appears briefly in the story.

I've also been doing worldbuilding things there; I have an article on storytelling customs of the unicorn riders in front of the Canon board, and just today did another article for review, on a genetic disease that's seen in the north due to inbreeding, which is background material for the other major character in the new story, since I plan to set her up as adoptable as well.

I'm very excited about seeing what happens in Torn World as we continue; having a number of different people involved means that there will be lots of viewpoints from which to see the world, and I expect that having so many characters be both the stars in their own stories and supporting or bit characters in other stories will lead to a very rich and unique reading experience. And viewing experience too--there's art and poetry on the site too.

Torn World is also unique in that someone who is not an artist or writer has the opportunity to adopt a character and commission one of the creative contributors to tell his or her story--want see your character defeat a snow cat? Fall in love? Many of the writers and artists on the site are willing to discuss doing work on commission if you don't want to do it yourself. (Want to have your character explore an ancient cave with Inuyasha or Dr. Who? There's even a spot on the site to share "non-canon" works such as those.)

In other projects, I got the Grandmother Marie story finished in time to submit it to Warrior Wisewoman, and even came up with a title that I like. (Titles are hard.)

I got a few words written on a story for the music-theme anthology, or at least I think it will be for that. Stories morph, sometimes.

I thought I was going to get a new chapter of Fireborn posted today, but we had a leak appear in one fishtank a couple of days ago and had to move the fish; that meant the other tank was over-full, and we lost a couple of the more delicate fish. Thus it was imperative to change the filters and do a water change right away so Fireborn got delayed a bit. Tomorrow.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to the fish store for fish-safe silicone to re-seal the errant tank too...
