A goat comes over and sniffs at the leather pouch, and the shaman laughs. "Hat Trick, you know there's no food in there!" She ruffles the beast's ears, and a child comes up, taking its lead rope and pulls at it, apologizing. The goat doesn't leave, however, until Bai-Kunabei pulls a carrot out of her pocket and hands over.
"You spoil her, Bai!" The child protested.
The shaman turns her attention to you as the goat follows the child, chewing contentedly on the carrot. "I ask myself that too, you know. Is it really better to do blessings and readings for people than to herd goats or grow food? But let's see if I can offer you any useful insight."
She reaches into the bag, and draws out three iron disks. The first has green grass and white flowers in bright enamel. "Meadow--sheltered, fertile land. You are in good circumstances, overall. The things you can't control are not posing any problems related to your question."
Then she pushes forward the next two disks. "Here you have the challenging aspects of Sound and Water. She runs her finger over the thunderstorm depicted on the final disk, the lightning bold shining in the sunlight. "Your thoughts are troubled, even though that may not show on the surface. But," she lifts the central disk, which shows a graceful shepherd's harp. "you have the skills to bring harmony to your existence. Listen to the music you make in your daily life. Does it match the meadow or the storm? Not that storms are always bad--without rain, after all, there's no flowers. But it is also true that without sun, there will be no flowers."
She smiles kindly at you. "I see that it is a challenge for you to understand how best to use your skills and energy. But you also have the ability to perceive it if you cause dissonance, so long as you pay attention. There's more than one right path; you are free to choose between the right paths so long as you avoid the wrong ones."
