New Year Card Draw
Happy New Year everyone! In honor of the new year, I'm doing a card draw. One card draws from the following decks are free (though a tip is appreciated). You can ask for a reading from one of the other decks I use for a tip, and a tip also entitles you to a clarifying card if you want one. If you want a longer reading, send a direct message so we can agree on the type of reading and rate.
I've written before about why I do readings and some of the decks I use here, feel free to hop over and check me out. I'll wait.
Today, for free one card readings, you can pick from the Brian Frouid's Faeries Oracle, my combined Susan Seddon Boulet Animal Spirits and Goddesses cards, or a deck that's new to me, the Heart and Soul Angel Cards. You can ask a question, ask for a Guide, or just ask for a card.
You are welcome to ask about your creative endeavors as well as posing more traditional questions. This might be asking for a card or Guide for one of your own characters, advice about fixing a plot problem, getting past writer's block, or whatever it is that you need.
Please consider dropping something in the guitar case below. Readings take time and energy, and I am still paying off the house repairs the City ordered last summer. Signal boosts are also appreciated, and also earn you the right to ask for a clarifying card. If you are tipping, please include that in your reply here, so I'm not guessing when I sit down to do your reading.
I understand all too well that sometimes people don't have cash or spoons, and it is generally during those times when people most need inspiration! Don't be afraid to ask for a card if you can't tip.
Tips should be at least $1 (Paypal charges fees). Alternatively, you can tip in Torn World/EMG credits. If neither of these work for you, drop me a message and we'll work something out.
You can get a private reading if you tip; I'll send the reading to the e-mail you use for tipping or you can send a private message to make other arrangements.
I will reply to all requests. If it's important to you that I draw the card today, New Year's Day, please mention that. I'll do those first if necessary. If the number of requests nears my limits, I'll close this One Card Draw rather than risk leaving anyone without a response.
Thank you!
As always, these readings are for entertainment and inspiration only. See my "Dandelyon's Readings" page if you have questions.

Myk the Mycomancer (who happens to be card 42)
He strokes his beard and looks deep into your eyes. "But you know that. In fact, what you need to know is readily available to you, if you let yourself look at the details clearly. Don't let that Gloominous Doom critter steal all your energy or distract you from the beauty in the world." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a handful of tiny, grey mice. "See? See how beautiful they are?" He sets them on the table where they start to play tag, and reaches into his pocket. He pulls out a slip of paper, which has been thoroughly chewed on. "Of course, it helps to pay attention to the right details, you know? It's a good thing this is just a copy. If I'd let them at the original, I'd have to write this all over again." He scoops the mice and the tattered poem back into his hand. "I don't expect that you need us, but if you do, you can call on me or the mice to help you sort out those fascinating details. We'll make a party of it, right kids?" He smiles, tucks the mice safely back into his pocket, and vanishes.
Re: Myk the Mycomancer (who happens to be card 42)
His message of paying more attention to details is more relevant than I'd like it to be - but I'll accept it, and take it to heart as much as I can. His other message, of delighting in the small beauties that are all around us, if we'd only see them, is pretty much a description of the way I approach life. I may need to borrow some mice, though - how are they at organizing data structures? ;-)
Thank you! And thank Myk, and his mice!
Re: Myk the Mycomancer
Thank you for the tip--that was you, right?
Re: Myk the Mycomancer
Little grey mice, however, are very good symbols for the kind of stuff I expect to be working with - small, independent, and seemingly chaotically disorganized... until you get to know them. (Yes, my icon is related, in a way.)
And, yes, I threw a virtual dollar into the virtual guitar case :-)

Thetis
When life is a whirlwind, take a moment to drink a glass of water and keep her close. Then you can take her inspiration and resilience back into the fray with you.

I've sent a tip.
May I please have a card as a writing prompt?
(I have a setting for a project, a protagonist and no real plot or antagonist - unless I lift everything holus bolus from something else I have in mind and I don't know that that's the best idea ...
Thank you!
Re: Thank you!
I have no idea which set of cards would be most applicable to either, but I believe the antagonist, or that person's hired help, are about to announce their existence by shooting at people.
The Plot -- The Singer of Transfiguration
Antagonist(s): The Green Woman and The Laume
Physically, the images on the cards are of an older woman with tangled, grassy hair and horns like the trunks of a bush, tongue out and full of mischief and a younger woman with her back turned, tattered wings fracturing into sparks like a shorted electric line, staring off into the distance.
Then when I went to return them to the deck, the Piper fell out. When the power of the Piper is twisted, it becomes manipulative, playing on a person's illusions, delusions, and confusions to lead them astray.
Yes, those definitely seem antagonistic!

I threw $5 in the guitar case. You've done a number of one card draws for me and I appreciate it! :)
Gloominous Doom
He looks mournfully up at me. "See? It's all hopeless. Doom! Gloom! There's nothing for it but to weep."
The cats ignore him and pounce gleefully on the treats. But then, cats don't cry over spilt milk either. I pick up the cat treats and return my attention to you. Are you taking care of yourself? I offer tea or hot chocolate. Are you getting enough sleep? We talk for a while.
Gloomious sits there, pretending to ignore us, but occasionally telling us that tea is just quackery or chocolate will make us fat or sleep doesn't do any good any way. He even tells the cats that eating cat treats will do no good, they'll just get hungry again soon. The kitten sniffs him suspiciously, and bats at his wings. The momma cat tries to clean his ears. Although he clearly dislikes both, he just hunkers down, crying, "Woe is me!"
Finally I put some chocolate in his hand, thank him for his message, and set him outside. Our pity party will be more fun without him, and after we've indulged for a while and perhaps had a nice nap, we can return to doing something productive or fun--or who knows? Maybe even a bit of both!
