I would not be surprised to find that some of them come from Brian Froud's personal visions of Faerie, though I do not actually know. He does say that Ffaff is very concerned with the state of one's feet, and with one's connection to the ground, as well as one's magical or metaphorical groundedness. Perhaps his message for you is about caring for your feet, or connecting to the places you go. Or perhaps his message is as prosaic as "get new shoes", though I think there is more to it than that.
