He was thinking he needed to hire someone who could get their health insurance through a spouse or parent, like he did. And that if he actually offered me work, it would screw up my unemployment benefits for me to say no. Assuming I was reading what he said (and what he didn't say) correctly, of course. I could have been interpreting it wrong.

But if I was right, it's too bad. I liked him, and the location. I'd have had an actual office, not just a cubicle. And Friday afternoons off. But because the Democrats didn't guarantee health insurance to Americans while they had the chance, he didn't offer.
